Show Notes

How can we re-envision and re-embody our relatedness within the entire living ecosystem? Clearly, the divisions that we have made between ourselves as humans and the rest of life are the root of the crises that we and the planet are facing. David Abram’s life and work has been a constant re-membering of our relatedness. He breaks boundaries by making surprising connections: indigenous wisdom and Continental philosophy, a magician who confounds your perception and a writer who opens your eyes. His classic book, The Spell of the Sensuous: Perception and Language in a More-than-Human World, published in 1996, launched several fields, like ecopsychology, and gave new language to express the entangled material world that all growing things are one with. He explores the big questions through a deep encounter with the potential of our humanness. How, he asks, can our capacity to sense, our animal sensuality, transform us and our world?

In this week’s Radio evolve, Thomas Steininger and David Abram explore the capacities of human perceiving and sensing to re-configure ourselves and the „more-than-human-world.“
